November 12, 2009 - Last Week and Pumped Up!
Hey everyone!

I wanted to write yesterday and say a BIG thank you to all of our Veterans out there for sacrificing their lives for us and making us so proud! Craig, Dave, Renee and I along with our staff in the Gardens took 2 mins of silence in memory of our fallen soldiers.
It is our last show with Battle of the Blades this coming Sun and Craig and I are so excited to skate one last time. We have a fun/amazing program packed with tricks (pretty much everything but the kitchen sink  ) and great choreography! We are skating 1st which is awesome so we can sit back and relax and watch the other 2 teams skate. We are all doing a new # and a trio # so again we will all be busy.
I would like to ask all of you and to tell all of your friends to vote for Craig and I on Sun night please if you would be so kind. If we win, $100,000 goes to Spinal Cord research so you would all be doing a really great thing! Our # is 57 (don't know the prefix) but voting on line seems to be the best way as the phone lines get all jammed up. You can vote 10 times and hr on line and by texting so go for it. We would be extremely grateful! Thank you in advance everyone and wish us luck!
I'll post soon after we get home to tell you how we felt.
Take care and watch & VOTE! :fingerscrossed:
Jamie :w:
P.S I wanna thank you guys that have been voting very much, you've gotten us to the finale. Thanks!

October 24, 2009 - Week 4 of Battle of the Blades
Hellllllllo everyone :)
We are going into wk 4 our our Battle of the Blades :skate: show in T.O, Ont. and so we are having a blast! I do have to admit that we are getting really tired and now Craig (my hockey partner) is injured. We aren't sure if he'll be able to skate tomorrow night for the show but he thinks he'll pull it off. :fingerscrossed: It started this week when we were teaching him a death spiral and he did too many lunges so his groin got really sore and then it eventually went up to his back so he was barely walking on fri and we haven't skating much at all this week. On top of the soreness he had to fly to Vancouver to do Hockey Night in Canada tonight and he's taking the red eye back tonight to make it in time for the show tomorrow night. Should be a fun one! If we skate it'll be our 2nd run through. Not used to performing with such little prep.
Dave has been flying all over the world, he went to Paris for the Grand Prix comp there last week for 4 days and now he's in Moscow for the other Grand Prix, working with NBC on backstage stuff (I guess because I haven't seen it yet). He makes it back to T.O for our shows which is nice because he's our coach and we need him. We will really need him this week, boy oh boy!
Jesse has gone to Quebec to visit his grandparents for a week which is so great for him (not for Mommy) because they have a dog too, he misses Iggy, and he doesn't get to see them too often. I had a bit of a panic attack today when they left but I'll be ok when Dave gets back tomorrow.
I need to get ready for our camera blocking rehearsal today (without my partner) so I must go now but as promised I will keep you posted. Hope you're all voting for us :w: and telling everyone you to also.
Take care,
Jamie :canada:

October 1st, 2009 - Where did summer go?
Helllllllo everyone!

Once again we have so good at writing and keeping you all in the loop with what's going on with us. SORRY! It has been the busiest summer we think we've had in a long time. Not exactly sure how it's gone already but that's what happens when you've always got something on the go or just the simple fact that we're getting older and everything flies by now. lol

Image

Jesse turned 2 yesterday (WHAT?) and we can't believe it, it feels like he just got here. We had a fun birthday party for him at "Bampa and Bammy's (my Dad & his wife's house) before we left for Toronto to get ready for Battle of the Blades and he didn't care about much except blowing the candles a 100 times. It was so cute so my Mom kept lighting them and he'd blow hard and spit all over the cake and say "more" as we all sat around and thought "Yum! can't wait to eat that now". Too funny!

Image

Jesse is joining us out here in T.O next week and staying with us until Craig (my hockey partner) & I are voted off the show so we get to be all together as a family for this experience. Dave is actually our coach so he's making sure Craig is comfortable doing what he has to do with me; we are a great team all of us!
It's a bit weird for me as you can imagine I'm skating with someone who has never figure skated before and doing "pair tricks" with him, granted he was a great hockey player but the blades are soooooooo different. He's working extremely hard on his skating skills and is improving tremendously everyday and we are both feeling good and excited about opening night this Sun.
Check out the show every Sun & Mon evenings @8pm on CBC and make sure you vote (for us obviously he!he!). We are all having a blast preparing for the show and all of the teams look great! It's so cool to have us girls back on the ice together in a different way and I know they are excited about the show too!

This summer Dave decided he needed to be really risky (because skating isn't enough :? ) and wanted to skydive so Jesse and I went out and watched him jump and have a thrill of a lifetime. He was vibrating and wired for hrs after he did it, it was so exhilarating for him! I definitely need to do it now but I'll wait until next summer (that's what I'm saying anyway :w: )

Image

I mentioned earlier (I think) that we got a puppy (Shih-tzu) this summer which is part of why we have been so busy but he has been the greatest little guy for Jesse, Iggy and him are buddies and have so much fun together. That dog just adores Jesse even though he pulls his hair sometimes and pushes him off the couch :( Iggy just comes back for more. It's adorable!

Image

Unfortunately we can't have Iggy with us in T.O but he's in great hands with friends back home. Jesse asks for him everyday but hopefully he'll be too busy here that he'll forget for a while.

Anyway, I don't have a whole lot to write about but I (we :w: ) will be writing during the time we are on the show and keeping you posted with everything.
Enjoy watching and if you come to a show ever make sure you're loud because we wanna hear you skating fans, you're always great screamers!
Take care,
Jamie & Dave :canada:

June 30th, 2009 - Summer
Helllllo everyone!

Can you believe it's already almost July? Happy Canada Day tomorrow 142 yrs young.

Anyway, it's summer but we sure don't feel like it is here in Edmonton. We are waking up almost every am to 10 degrees and we might have a warm spell sometime in the middle of the day but wow! where is the good weather? We aren't planning to go any vacations this summer so we sure hope it becomes nice here.

Well, there's sure been some interesting conversations going on on our site. Someone wrote asking about the French judge in Salt Lake and why she was the only one who got in trouble and the reason she was the "only" one who got punished was because she confessed that she was forced to put the Russians 1st and that there was a trade going on.

It used to both me too though that there were 4 other judges who had us 2nd (ONLY because the Russians weren't perfect "that" night)and didn't have to answer for it. I couldn't agree more with whoever wrote that. I actually felt bad for the french judge having all of the focus or blame but at least she came forward otherwise we'd NEVER have known about the "deal". Whatever! It REALLY doesn't matter but it's fun to talk about.

The other thing is that you'll know more about Battle of the Blades really soon. Everything is getting finalized for that show really soon so stay tuned for the announcements.

We are taking it easy right now just getting out butts kicked by our son Jesse. He's SOOOOOOOOOOOO busy and constantly on the move that when he naps I nap and bedtime is early so that I can keep up with him all day.

We are exhausted by 9am and we look at the clock and go, "holy moly, we have 3 hrs before nap time" and then we gets up between 2-3pm and goes straight (like a crazy kid) until 7ish and we have to literally tie him down to read a book and get ready for bed. He just LOVES being outside and running around with our new puppy Iggy (a shih tzu). They are buddies and do everything together, it's so cute!

Iggy is about 14 wks now so still very young and Jesse doesn't quite understand that he isn't a toy. He's such an affectionate child and loves to give hugs but he squeezes Iggy a bit too hard sometimes or wants to carry him everywhere but he'll have him by the head and arms and he'll be falling out of Jesse's arms. It's quite funny and he tries to be careful but he just doesn't understand. Iggy's a great sport though and they get along for the most part.

There is nothing cuter than a little boy and his dog playing.

Jesse got a playground his backyard a few weeks ago (Grandpa and Papa made it) and he can't get enough of it. This child is so fortunate and is totally spoiled by his grandparents (o.k parents too he!he!), they are always buying him something to play with but it seems like when he gets one toy and gets bored or grows out of it fast so they go and buy something new "cause He needed it". Ha! I think he'd be just fine without it! Kids need to be creative and find things to do like we did when were kids. At least he's outside ALL day which makes us happy but it means that we are too.

He's turning 2 in 3 months already.....WHAT?

Time just goes by SOOOO fast.

We sure hope you are all enjoying your summer so far! Take care and we'll be in touch real soon.

Jamie and Dave

March 29th, 2009 - Getting Ready
Hey everyone!

My goodness! It has been 3+ months since I last wrote and I apologize sincerely. I have no idea where the time has gone except that our little man is taking up most of my time. It just keeps getting better and we are having so much fun with Jesse! He's a very active and happy which keeps us on our toes and always on the go. I have to say though that he is well behaved and listens to both of us most of the time...notice "most". He understands everything we say to him in French and in English and he says 5 words and they are in English, for now anyway. He talks non stop all day but it sounds like German/Russian most of the time...no joke. It's so funny and we spend half the day laughing because it sounds so real.

Anyway, we are getting ready for Stars on Ice and having a great time training our new #'s this year. We worked with Lori Nichol for one and Renee Roca for the other. We are skating to a song by a friend of ours who wrote and is singing it called "Molly", (it's a slow song that he wrote for a wedding) and our other one is called "I Like The Way", by the Bodyrockers. It's crazy busy and full of energy!

We had our induction into the Olympic Hall of Fame last Thursday in Vancouver and it was an absolutely beautiful evening and we feel so fortunate to have been put in the same class as so many amazing people who have done great things for our sports in Canada. They made a nice video and then we went up to the stage and spoke for a few mins to say our thank you's and tell everyone what being an Olympian was like for us. It was a great night!
I will have some pics to put on here soon.

That's it for now but i promise to be better at keeping in touch. Really though...nothing drastic happens on a regular basis so I feel silly writing and saying not much.

O.k, take care and be well.
Jamie
