June 30th, 2009 - Summer
|
Helllllo everyone!
Can you believe it's already almost July? Happy Canada Day tomorrow 142 yrs young.
Anyway, it's summer but we sure don't feel like it is here in Edmonton. We are waking up almost every am to 10 degrees and we might have a warm spell sometime in the middle of the day but wow! where is the good weather? We aren't planning to go any vacations this summer so we sure hope it becomes nice here.
Well, there's sure been some interesting conversations going on on our site. Someone wrote asking about the French judge in Salt Lake and why she was the only one who got in trouble and the reason she was the "only" one who got punished was because she confessed that she was forced to put the Russians 1st and that there was a trade going on.
It used to both me too though that there were 4 other judges who had us 2nd (ONLY because the Russians weren't perfect "that" night)and didn't have to answer for it. I couldn't agree more with whoever wrote that. I actually felt bad for the french judge having all of the focus or blame but at least she came forward otherwise we'd NEVER have known about the "deal". Whatever! It REALLY doesn't matter but it's fun to talk about.
The other thing is that you'll know more about Battle of the Blades really soon. Everything is getting finalized for that show really soon so stay tuned for the announcements.
We are taking it easy right now just getting out butts kicked by our son Jesse. He's SOOOOOOOOOOOO busy and constantly on the move that when he naps I nap and bedtime is early so that I can keep up with him all day.
We are exhausted by 9am and we look at the clock and go, "holy moly, we have 3 hrs before nap time" and then we gets up between 2-3pm and goes straight (like a crazy kid) until 7ish and we have to literally tie him down to read a book and get ready for bed. He just LOVES being outside and running around with our new puppy Iggy (a shih tzu). They are buddies and do everything together, it's so cute!
Iggy is about 14 wks now so still very young and Jesse doesn't quite understand that he isn't a toy. He's such an affectionate child and loves to give hugs but he squeezes Iggy a bit too hard sometimes or wants to carry him everywhere but he'll have him by the head and arms and he'll be falling out of Jesse's arms. It's quite funny and he tries to be careful but he just doesn't understand. Iggy's a great sport though and they get along for the most part.
There is nothing cuter than a little boy and his dog playing.
Jesse got a playground his backyard a few weeks ago (Grandpa and Papa made it) and he can't get enough of it. This child is so fortunate and is totally spoiled by his grandparents (o.k parents too he!he!), they are always buying him something to play with but it seems like when he gets one toy and gets bored or grows out of it fast so they go and buy something new "cause He needed it". Ha! I think he'd be just fine without it! Kids need to be creative and find things to do like we did when were kids. At least he's outside ALL day which makes us happy but it means that we are too.
He's turning 2 in 3 months already.....WHAT?
Time just goes by SOOOO fast.
We sure hope you are all enjoying your summer so far! Take care and we'll be in touch real soon.

March 29th, 2009 - Getting Ready
|
Hey everyone!
My goodness! It has been 3+ months since I last wrote and I apologize sincerely. I have no idea where the time has gone except that our little man is taking up most of my time. It just keeps getting better and we are having so much fun with Jesse! He's a very active and happy which keeps us on our toes and always on the go. I have to say though that he is well behaved and listens to both of us most of the time...notice "most". He understands everything we say to him in French and in English and he says 5 words and they are in English, for now anyway. He talks non stop all day but it sounds like German/Russian most of the time...no joke. It's so funny and we spend half the day laughing because it sounds so real.
Anyway, we are getting ready for Stars on Ice and having a great time training our new #'s this year. We worked with Lori Nichol for one and Renee Roca for the other. We are skating to a song by a friend of ours who wrote and is singing it called "Molly", (it's a slow song that he wrote for a wedding) and our other one is called "I Like The Way", by the Bodyrockers. It's crazy busy and full of energy!
We had our induction into the Olympic Hall of Fame last Thursday in Vancouver and it was an absolutely beautiful evening and we feel so fortunate to have been put in the same class as so many amazing people who have done great things for our sports in Canada. They made a nice video and then we went up to the stage and spoke for a few mins to say our thank you's and tell everyone what being an Olympian was like for us. It was a great night! I will have some pics to put on here soon.
That's it for now but i promise to be better at keeping in touch. Really though...nothing drastic happens on a regular basis so I feel silly writing and saying not much.
O.k, take care and be well. Jamie |

December 11th, 2008 - The holidays :)
|
WOW! The holidays are here! Can you believe it's already that time of the year?
I don't know about all of you but we are the kind of people that do a LOT of our shopping last minute, not hrs before xmas day but days for sure. LOL This year I think we'll be a little better organized because of the time that we have. We are home now until the end of Jan before we go to Switzerland for some shows, which is so nice for a change.
We just got home from a 10 day trip away from home and Jesse (which is SOOOOO not good for the heart) so we are very much looking forward to a restful rest of Dec. Most of you already know this but we were in Dallas,TX for a show in the Galleria, N.Y.C for the Byrant Park tree lighting show, Halifax, NS for the taping of our Holiday show and then we finished in Oshawa, ON for the same show without t.v. It is very weird when a show is made for t.v and then we do it for another crowd without lights and the bands singing and the rest of what we usually have for a t.v show. It doesn't make as much sense as seeing the t.v version, it feels like something is missing, because there is.
Our little man Jesse is continuing to bring a tremendous amount of joy to our lives, he's so busy and hilarious we hardly stop laughing or looking at him with amazement. He loves the snow and wants to always go out even if he's not dressed appropriately. I guess he's a REAL Canadian! No talking yet but he sure chatters up a storm and loves to talk on the phone with no one there. I think he's imitating us.
Well, he has no come into the office where I'm writing and I will be bombarded in about 30 secs so I'm signing off with have a safe and happy holiday everyone! Cheers! Jamie |

October 9th, 2008 - Jesse's Birthday
|
Jesse turned 1 yr old on Sept. 30th.
It was so much fun with all of his grandparents and of course his parents, we were in Calgary at his Grammy's (my Mom's) house and she made his fabulous cake that he eventually smeared all over his face as most kids I guess. He is fortunate to have so many people who who love him and shared in his special day, although everyday in our house is a apecial day! My Dad made him the most adorable rocking horse that he's not quite sure about yet but before we know it he'll be rockin' himself right off of it. It's not about the presents at this age though because he doesn't really know what's going on, he liked the paper and boxes the best, it's mostly for the rest of us.
The cake was sticky and made quite a mess as you can imagine and of I (Jamie) was trtying to constantly wipe him off and then I realized, "What are you doing?" "It's his 1st b-day, who cares how much mess he makes." That was hard because as I said the icing was sticky (marshmellowy) and I was affraid of him touching Grammy's stuff after. I don't think she would have cared as Jesse can't do anything wrong. NOT!
We had Dave's parents come to Edmonton while we went to St. John's, NFLD for our show for 2 days. He was so good for them and we once we got back we all had a nice time visiting all week and then we all went to the mountains for a day before they went home. We have to take them there every time they come out west, it's too beautiful to miss out on and they just love being there.
So we are getting ready to go to Kristi's show today and we are pretty excited about it obviously as it's our 1st time doing her show as parents but also to see how he does. He doesn't walk all that much (not too interested right now) so we can't have him in our # but he does have Bobskates that Mr. Dick Button gave him when he was born so we might try those out with us holding his hands. He probably won't be good at it but we'll try.
I guess some of you were wondering about Jesse's hair and it is actually mostly blonde with auburn (brownish/red) in it but it seems to be going more blonde now as it's getting longer. It was quite brown/red with a little blonde a few months ago but not so red now. My Mom's Mom is a beautiful redhead and I have natural red highlights (when I don't color my hair ) in my hair. Dave's family is all brown and blonde. Jesse is a real mix of both of us, he has Dave's coloring of eyes (hazel, green/blue) and now Dave's hair color but he had my hair color for a while and we both had the curls for a long time. It'll be interesting to see what it turns out like but I'm sure it'll be blonde like Papa. He has the shape of my eyes and my nose and that's pretty much it for now. The scariest realization was when we saw a picture of my Mom as a 3yr old and she looked like Jesse EXACTLY but only had dark brown hair. Dave's parents pointed it out actually because we thought he looked so much like Dave but apparently not. LOL It's so cool to have old pictures of everyone to see the similarities. Dave's parents said he doesn't look like a Pelletier but I think he sure does as I'm sure most of you do too.
Well, it's Baby Einstein time now, this our time together to learn about our body, animals, instruments, household things and signing. We hope you are all well and enjoying this beautiful time of year. It's our favorite! Take care, until next time...... Jamie |
