February 17th, 2008 - Back on the road
|
Hey everyone! We are back on tour now and have done 2 shows as of last night. We were in Bakersfield, CA and then Phoenix, AZ and we are in Dallas tonight for the show tomorrow. We did 2 days of rehearsals first in L.A with Cindy Stuart and then joined everyone on Thursday night for an off ice rehearsal with everyone. It went really well and we feel very comfortable with the 2 #'s we're in, the opening and the finale. (We will be in more of the group #'s in Canada but we're only doing 20 shows in the US so it's best that we're only in opening and finale). Unfortunately I woke up this morning with some kind of infection in my face and it's a bit swollen but I'm on penicillin now so I should be all good in a few days. LOL Jesse had a cold a few days ago and the Doctor told me I probably got it from him, poor kid! He's doing great but now Mom's sick. There's been a funk (colds and flus) going around the tour so I guess it was just a matter of time before we got something. We have our Mom's taking turns helping us out with Jesse while we're skating which is wonderful because we couldn't leave him at home. He's been so good and a fantastic traveller. We're having so much fun with him and love seeing him grow and change so quickly, it's crazy how one day you wake up and all of the sudden they are doing something that they couldn't do the day before. He's 4 1/2 months now and weighs 21 lbs so he's quite a chunkster now but I will say he seems to just be a big boy, he has a broad rib cage, big hands and feet. Not sure where he's getting from. LOL Before the tour started we've been busy at both US and Canadian Nationals doing some commentating and back stage stuff which was nerve racking but great experience. We really enjoy doing t.v work and we are fortunate to work along side people like Tracy Wilson who is a wonderful commentator. It would be great to have more work with that but there aren't too many opportunities. Oh well! Well, I apologize that I don't have a whole lot to tell you but we'll keep you posted on how the tour is going once we get a little further into it. Hope you are all well! Jamie |

December 17th, 2007 - Home for the Holidays
|
Hey everyone! We are so happy to home and getting ready for Christmas as we've had quite the schedule lately. We were in Lake Placid, N.Y for Stars on Ice rehearsals as I mentioned in Nov. and then we were in San Fransisco, CA for Brian Boitano's show beginning of Dec (Dave did it by himself) and then we did our t.v xmas show in Kelowna, B.C and another show in Cranbrook, B.C. the week after Brian's. We choreographed our 2 Stars #'s all last week with David Wilson so we are so exhausted now and feel like we could really use a nice break already. (We are skating to Justin Timberlake's "Lovestoned", and Josh Groban's "Thankful" this year.) We had Jesse with us the whole trip and he travelled better than us, sleeping, eating and being held all the time by everyone. Life is good for little Jesse He was even in the finale of our xmas show, Steven Cousin's brought him out after we skated for the finale which was really just a bow but he was so cute and just had bubbles coming out of his mouth and stared at the lights. In Cranbrook for our 2nd show apparently he was fussing before Steven stepped on the ice with him but once he did Jesse stopped immediately. He's a true performer!
We are home for Christmas and New Years which will be nice as we have a fairly busy schedule from Jan-March. We are going to both US and Canadian Nationals for the whole time (I also have a Jr. lady competing at Can Nat.). We're supposed to be doing a show at US nat. like Olympic Ice and in Vancouver we'll skating in the gala and hopefully commentating for the pairs, not sure yet. Then we go on tour from Feb 15th (Bakersfield, CA)-March 22nd and of course the Canadian tour in April-May. So that's all I've got for you for now. Don't forget to check our xmas show on t.v Tuesday, Dec 18th on CBC (I have no idea what time sorry). Happy Holidays to everyone, be safe and enjoy your time off, hopefully. Take care, Jamie |

November 29th, 2007 - I'm 2 months now! (baby Jesse)
|
Hey Everyone!
It's been a fun and busy 2 months for us and Jesse and believe it or not he's STILL being a good boy, even after all of our travels. We flew to Quebec City for Skate Canada, as most of you already know, to commentate and be honorary chairs for Skate Canada and then we went to Dave's home town of Sayabec,Qc for 3 days of rest and visiting and then we were in Lake Placid for Stars on Ice rehearsals for a week. Thankfully we had Grandma (Dave's Mom for that trip) with us to help because we were fairly busy learning steps and getting back to training for our up coming shows. Jesse was a trooper and never cried or really fussed on any of the flights, he slept mostly and when he was awake he stared at the lights or ate. He's a joy to travel with and he's our little buddy, LOVE HIM! We know we won't have a problem with him on tour. We are doing 20 of the US shows and the whole Canadian tour and he's coming for the whole thing and we're bringing a Grandma for help so we're pretty fortunate. We are getting ready for our xmas shows in Kelowna and Cranbrook, B.C next week but Dave (by himself) is doing Brian Boitano's show next Wed. first and Jesse and I get go and watch. It's a bit weird for me but I'm going to enjoy it and I'll actually get to watch a WHOLE show from an audiences' perspective. FUN! After the New Year we'll be heading to Nationals (maybe both Canadian and US) and then we start the US leg of the tour on Feb 15th in Bakersfield, CA. We'll be doing 20 in a row and then Illa Kulik will be doing the other 20. It means that we are in the opening for a bit, the closing, Dave's in the # with Sasha and of course our own numbers and that's it for the US tour but we'll be in the end of act 1's group # in Canada. There, you're all filled in now on what's happening with us in the next 6 months. If you're interested Jesse now weighs a whoppin' 14.5 lbs and has grown 3 inches. He doubled his weight in 6 weeks (YIKES!) so he's growing nicely! The good news for us is he's been sleeping through the night since Dave's B-day (Nov.22nd) so we're actually getting some good sleep ourselves now. He was always pretty good in the night from day 1 giving us 4 hrs between every feeding but now he's out cold from 11pm- around 7am give or take an hr. For those Mom's and Dad's out there you can sure appreciate that. It's been the greatest gift ever having him here and we're extremely grateful and thankful to be able to have had him. O.k, so that's it for now but we'll post again soon to give our holiday wishes. Can you believe it's already almost Christmas? YIKES! Where does the time go? I guess it flies by when you're having fun. Take care and be well, Jamie xo |

Life as a family
|
Hey Everyone! We are now on day 11 with our baby boy Jesse and it's the most amazing gift ever, better than any Gold medal that's for sure! He's really a great baby! He's healthy and seems to be very happy/content and is growing everyday, it's crazy how they change daily. We had our first doctors appointment and he has gained weight and even grown a 1/4 of an inch. He now weighs 7.7lbs, a BIG boy! lol He was big enough for me that's for sure. He was 7lbs and 19 1/4 inches when he was born just for those who didn't get any info. I was in labor for a quick 3 hrs (lucky me ) and then he was born @ 8:30pm on Sunday, Sept. 30th. We got to go home the next day @ 11am so we were so happy about that, we wanted to be back at home in our comfort zone to enjoy him and rest. Man, it's the best! We are getting sleep, so far, and adjusting well to parenthood. It's going to be different that's for sure but we love and adore him so much that he's now our priority. We are planning to have him with us whenever we are away skating including any Stars shows so we'll always be together which is awesome for us. We are fortunate to have 2 fabulous Mother's who can come and help us on the road. Besides our little bundle of joy we are both great and feeling good about our life and upcoming schedule. We are going to Quebec city for Skate Canada, Dave is skating in Brian Boitano's show beginning of Dec. then we are doing our xmas show in Kelowna right after, then hopefully off to Nationals and then the US tour for 20 shows and Canada for the whole thing. Busy schedule but it's great! We're very happy about that. It's time to go look after my Boys now but David and I would like to thank all of you who wrote us your well wishes and congratulations, it is greatly appreciated. We'll keep you posted with everything. Take care and be well, Jamie |

September 17th, 2007 - Anytime now
|
Hey Everyone! We were just told that it could be anytime now that we have our baby. It's all going quite quickly in there and the baby is moving down fast. We're absoluetly thrilled and anxious to have this baby so a little early is all good for us. We'll definitely keep you all posted. We don't have much to tell you guys because nothing has been finalized in our schedule yet but we'll also let you know as soon we know what's happening skating wise. Of course it'll all depend on how my labor/delivery goes and how long my recovery will be. Hope you are all well. Take care and we'll be posting soon I'm sure. Jamie and David |
